31 Days, 31 Questions About Weddings...Help Me Please! Day 9: The Favors

Day 9 Question:

What kind of favors can we offer that won't be wasted or thrown away?

I just can't STAND the idea of waste, especially when it comes to money. I've been to more than my fair share of weddings, and I've tossed away more than my fair share of wedding favors.

In the interest of being "green" in both the environmental sense and the saving sense, I'm looking for some ideas for multi-purpose favor ideas. I'm thinking something that can serve as the table decoration and the take-home favor...without being a cheapskate.
Ideally it would be some kind of plant or something that our guests would use in their homes or lives and think of us when they see it.

Do you have any ideas to share with me?

  1. I used Mason jars as my cup and that was also my favor I made custom vinyl stickers for them then we used bandanas as napkins also a favor and put them together on table

  2. A friend recently used the theme "meant to bee" and the flavors were mini jars of honey tied with raffia and a little bee charm. They were arranged on a table with small crates and a framed story of how they found each other and fell in love. You could use mini crates to put them as table centerpieces. Maybe you also have a story to tell. Just a thought.

  3. I have made truffles-3 to a box and tied them up with a little ribbom or raffia and a small posy works as well,no waste there, they were all gone before the dancing was over.I have also used fans, both paper and wood, with a little tag on them, giving the bride and groom and date.If you're wedding will be outside,we laid them on the chairs,if not and your reception will be outside then lay them at each place setting.Inexpensice, pretty and useful.

  5. We have been exploring the idea of making some of our products with custom labels to be used as favors for wedding and showers. Maybe a cute label that says, "Janet and Doug go together like Veggies and Dip" on packages of our dip mix. Stuff like that.

  6. May I say that lots of folks are doing eco friendly(green) favors. I know this because I make favors for weddings everyday. I make seed balls or hearts that allow your guests to plant a bit of beauty to remember you by. Take a look and see what I am talking about.
