Finding the Sparkle in Everyday Life

  Today I am thrilled to be able to introduce an awesome blogger and my new friend, Melissa of Tinsel-Celebrating the Shiny Things in Life!

What caught my attention intially was the name and overall feel of this blog: we all know that I LOOOVE sparkle, glitter, and everything beautiful. Tinsel is a fun, humorous, warm, and inviting look at all of the little things that make life wonderful. 

Melissa shares with us stories about her family, her pets, and her adventures in DIY-ing her lovely home. Take a moment to read her blog and you'll find yourself nodding in agreement (I personally laughed out loud at her most recent post about her little dog Lucy!).

From the Tinsel Facebook page: "Tinsel is defined in the dictionary, as pretty, but basically valueless. Well one of my fave things is to find value in things others find valueless. The broken, the worn, the aged and chipped, cracked and basically "loved to pieces".
It's funny how a gut decision like naming a brand can be second (and third and fourth) guessed but deep down it just made sense to me and hopefully people "get it"."

Fantastic 14: Day 2: Eclectically Vintage

It's a great day when I wake up, check my email, and see 

a new post from Kelly at Eclectically Vintage!

Kelly introduces herself on her blog by saying, "When I’m not sharing my love of all things vintage, cool collections, decorating, mixing old and new, flea markets, estate sales, junk and unique art, you might find my feet sticking out of a dumpster, scouring the neighborhood for curbside castoffs, or perusing the thrift shop aisles." 

 
A New Jersey native, Kelly finds inspiration and creative outlet in renovating her 100+ year old home, which she shares with her husband and twin daughters. Her blog posts are funny, inspiring, creative, and overall enthralling; she shares pictures of amazing finds and ideas for simple, attractive DIY ideas. 

Aside from being the beautiful brains behind Eclectically Vintage, Kelly also manages to be a major contributor to the FOLK Magazine Blog (which I also highly recommend...), sharing her wealth of inspiring knowledge with all of the follwers of FOLK's country-loving nation.

For those of you who know me, you know that I love my dog. I have a 10 year old Boston Terrier named Diva, and she is the center of my world.

Diva was born on December 14, 2002, and she was the runt of her litter. Several weeks later, on February 4, 2003, I brought my little Diva home (all 11 ounces of her). She was so tiny that she slept in the toes of my sneakers. With 2 roommates, it was actually a little bit difficult to keep track of her!

Over the years, Diva and I have grown to have a good working relationship. I pay the bills, she runs the house. She has traveled with me, moved with me, snuggled with me...she's been my partner through thick and thin.

She prefers not to be disturbed

Diva's antics have become somewhat of a popular topic; she recently "starred" in a series titled, "Where's the Little Dog?". Over the years, there have been many times where I had to really stop and search for Diva, as she has the tendency to burrow and hide. Here are a few of my favorites; see if you can answer the question, "where's the little dog?"
